I am indeed. I cheat by using Photoshop and a light box to get the rough outlines in place; if I was doing this entirely freehand they'd look pretty rotten.
Excellent! Despite not knowing the gentles, these look like they are good likenesses. I particularly like the detail work on the beard, the lace and blackwork(?) partlet - very true to style. Also, kudos for the neatness and fineness of the lettering - mine was always too clumsy.
The miniature of the cat is great, too - whimsical and cute!
Thanks. :) I added the lace to the falling band just because it seemed like it would be fun. Here's the page on the embroidered jacket, including the reference picture I used for the portrait.
Painted lettering is pretty easy after doing mirror imaged carved lettering on portrait medal molds. If you mess up with paint, you can just paint over it. The part I hate is when I bobble a brush full of gold paint and put a streak across a nice finished face. It's happened more often than I'd like, including on one of these two.
