SBH: Orcs vs. Misfits

We regrouped and replaced our fallen forces (I went back and read the rules later; it seems that for extended campaign play my minions should have had more of a chance to survive. Oh well.). Pursuing the band of invaders, we caught up with them in an open field. A small pond and a shack stood near a crumbling old farmhouse. Sensing that our enemies lay in wait for us, we advanced cautiously, shooting arrows into likely clumps of bushes and tall grass to attempt to flush them out. Soon we hear the clatter of armor and the snorting of a warthog from within the shack. The bugbear leaped forward and opened the door, placing himself between the cursed dwarf and the rest of our forces. The mermaid appeared from behind the shack, and we could hear the voices of others from further beyond. The dwarf and bugbear battled in the doorway, neither able to land a telling blow. We advanced cautiously and managed to pick off the mermaid before she could line up a good shot. As the rest of our enemies rounded the corner, the most savage of our orc warriors rushed to aid the bugbear. Despite the danger of crossing blades with the dwarf, he swung his great blade and smote the fiend from his mount. The sight of their compatriot being brought so low sent the rest into a disorganized rout. While we won the day, the panicked boar ran off with his master still in the saddle. Perhaps we have not yet seen the last of him...
